North West England and North Wales Coastal Group

The North West North Wales Coastal Group is one of six Coastal Group’s in England. The North West North Wales Coastal Group is a strategic partnership focused on developing a long-term sustainable vision for the North West Coast by encouraging proactive management and pooling resources across the region.

Key Objectives of the Coastal Group

DELIVER SUSTAINABLE COASTAL MANAGEMENT

The North West North Wales Coastal Group is responsible for managing and monitoring the delivery of the North West Shoreline Management Plan, which sets out the most sustainable policies to manage coastal flood and erosion risk over the short, medium and long-term. The North West North Wales Coastal Group is formed of North West coastal authorities, the Environment Agency, Natural England and all other organisations who have a role in managing the coast from Great Ormes Head to the Scottish border. ENCOURAGE INNOVATION

We need to continually challenge the way we do things to manage uncertain risk.  Technology for surveying the coastline and understanding coastal processes is constantly advancing and the regional coastal monitoring programme seeks to adopt the most suitable technology to provide the evidence to inform coastal management decisions.
